After coarse filtration, the water is immediately routed into the membrane reactor located in the same storage tank. A continuous biodegradation is carried out by bacteria in the aerated fluidized bed. A few weeks after start-up, they automatically settle on the AQUALOOP growth bodies - special floating elements with a large surface area. Air, needed for optimal oxygen supply to the biological helpers - the bacteria, comes from the membrane unit and the blower. This technology has been used successfully for years in small treatment plants. The floating elements automatically clean themselves of excess sludge through their movement as well as their special shape and therefore remain virtually maintenance-free. Dead biomass is regularly expelled through the suction overflow of the AQUALOOP’s preliminary filter as the filter flow is interrupted to force a planned overflow. This leads to continuous improvement of the water quality in the storage tank.

The AQUALOOP pre-filter 100, rough debris particles are trapped in a removable filter sieve. The built-in non-return valve prevents the backflow of water, small animals and vermin from entering the tank. With each overflow of tank the ground sediments are automatically extracted through suction overflow in the AQUALOOP pre-filter. If the overflow has reached its maximum capacity, the water overflows through the integrated skimmer and thereby cleans the floating debris (foam, grease, oil) from the surface of the water.

The AQUALOOP membrane station can be equipped with a maximum of 6 membrane cartridges. The station is vertically positioned in the contaminated water tank and is attached to the permeate hose. The membrane station is equipped with weights, depending on the number of installed membranes so that it remains stable during activation of the blower. The installed pump uniformly draws the water through the membranes for cleansing and sends it via the permeate hose to the clean water tank. The length of the permeate hose (see accessories Horizon ½" hose) can be a maximum of 3 m height within the tank to ensure adequate pumping pressure. The membrane is automatically cleaned (from a back-flushing container located above the pump) at regular intervals to guarantee a long, high flow operating life. In addition to this, the membrane is periodically flushed with air in order to free the fibres from deposits. For this purpose the membrane station has a hose connection, to which a blower is connected to. The air is uniformly distributed to the connected membranes via an insert with symmetrical distribution terminals. Multiple AQUALOOP membrane stations can be connected in parallel for larger water treatment plants.
Controller
A controller is provided for every membrane station. This fully automatically controls the AQUALOOP water treatment plant. The operating status can be easily read from an illuminated LCD display.

For large filters, we recommend the backflushing nozzles to minimize the intervals of manual maintenance. The backflushing nozzle is installed in PURAIN rainwater filters behind the sieve. The mounting components required for this are included. The water required for backflushing can either be supplied manually through a tap or automatically via a time-controlled solenoid valve.
